What is eConsult?

eConsult enables NHS based GP practices to offer online consultations to their patients. This allows patients to submit their symptoms or requests to their own GP electronically, and offers around the clock NHS self-help information, signposting to services, and a symptom checker.

eConsult is the most widely used digital triage tool in NHS primary care, built by NHS GPs for NHS patients, designed to enhance patient access, improve practice efficiencies and sign post patients to the right place at the right time for their care. eConsult gives patients access to their own GP online and allows the practice to signpost in a more efficient and patient focussed manner.

How does eConsult work?

eConsult lets patients consult with their own NHS GP online by completing a quick form that is sent and reviewed by the practice. We can also direct the patient to self-help, pharmacy advice and local self-referral services.

What Are The Benefits?

Patients can get NHS based help via eConsult anytime, 24/7 even outside of surgery hours. They can do this in a location and time that suits their lives, further enabling patients to take charge of their healthcare.

As the process of online consultation is so comprehensive and convenient it also frees up precious time and resources in surgery. The GP practice will be able to process e-consults far quicker, often with a 48 hours response to patients. It also allows for our practices to signpost patients to the best healthcare professional for their needs straightaway.
